I have mine in arboreal tanks with a small vent on the lid. No ventilation to speak of. I flooded their tanks about 6 months ago and since then I have watered the tanks a bit 3 months or so ago. The ventilation is so minimal that the substrate is still pretty soaked since the first watering. They are kept at room temperature (And have been since I received them as 2nd instars) with the temps in winter going down to around 15 degrees.
The 2 Avicularia avicularia's are currently around 7cm and have moulted 3 times each since they have been in this setup and are currently in premoult. I feed them maybe once every 2 weeks and don't bother them between feedings.
I have always been annoyed by SADS (Sudden Avic Death Syndrome) and have lost 5 or so avics to this in the past. But now I am wondering if they really are so picky, or if they just like to be left alone?
Any comments or similar stories?

Well Cerat I must say I have great success with my Avic avic its now about 5cm still in a 8cm x 16cm arboreal tank with the went on the lid, my substrate is about 2.5cm thick and its almost dry, but I light mist the enclosure everyday once and I only use room temp . This works for me and the spider is happy. Maybe you can use something that I have mentioned here.

Look, I am definately not worried about them, just strange that I have struggled with them in the past from possibly "over caring" for them.
Just wanted to know if anyone else had any successes keeping them with so little maintenance.

To be honest i am not an expert keeper and i have 3 avics. I hardly do anything to their enclosures, i just let them be, i never spray i just make sure peat is wet and i have a live plant that maybe helps.

They are 1, 2 and 5cm so they are still small and thriving in their enclosures. Only have 1 air vent.

There is no need for substrate and I find they very messy tarantulas, makes it easier to keep the enclosure clean.

I'm also keeping my 2 x Avics (Avic avic, and Avic urticans) like Cerat. I dont bother them at all. Mist them once a week, even sometimes once in 2 weeks, and I feed them the same time. They are in self built enclosures with cross-ventilation. They are located in the back dark corner of the T shelf.

In actual fact I dont bother any of my Ts for atleast once a week, and thus far, slings included, I have only lost about 10-12 Ts out of 180+. The weirdest of all, I have lost hardy Ts, such as vagans and parahybana slings(2 or 3 of each).
