Just like Spinnerkop says. Although I do 'get' the need to handle the T's.
My kids for example. For them the tactile feedback is important, so I got an extremely chill MF G pulchripes for them to work with.
Keeps them from wanting to play with their own slings.

I feel it is up to the owner if he wants to handle them or not. Out of my colection of 18 t's I have chosen 3 that I regulary handle and I can asure you none of them have ever kick hairs to me or have a bold spot on them. My goldy normaly walking to the top of the terarium when I opening the lid and is extreamly easy to handle.

I have handled a couple of my T's over the years, more so when I just started off with the hobby

As time went by I no longer had the urge to handle any of my T's, the only time this is done is when I get some visitors and they have never even seen a tarantula except on TV maybe. Then its always fun to get out a spider and let people have a hands on experience. They tend to warm up to them a lot more :thumbsup:

If you have the longing to rub the tummy of your furry friend I would recommend getting a female G. pulchripes (They are the teddy bears in the tarantula world) or a female A. avicularia. I am a big fan of anything arboreal so I would go for the avic

The cool thing about arboreals are that if it decides to bolt while you're holding it and it falls, it wont fall to its death, it will just curl in its legs, do a barrel roll and run away :woohoo:

I don't have a issue with people handling their spiders at all just as long as they're aware of the risks for you and your furry little friend :spider:

morning guys! how are you all doing? weather is so crap to be at work lol nice to be home under the blankie thanks for all the responses. i think i need to pluck up the courage to hold my t's this saturday. @creator im scared of the avi's coz i read up that they jump! how is the avi versicolour? if you insist i will try and get one what do you think?

I would suggest getting A. avicularia they are the rosies of the avicularia family.

They are cheap to buy and they are very hardy compared to other avics.

As a warning, they do jump and they also shoot poo if you agitate them to much

but they are all awesome and you'll start to read their behavior to know when they are gonna jump or shoot :laugh:
