Swifty, I'm not really a fan of the H.incei, I've never had the urge to try a H.incei communal, so can't really assist on that subject. I know that, up till 5cm, the H.gigas live together very peacefully, if you keep enough of them in the communal, otherwise they might get territorial.

Try it with the gigas, you won't be disappointed! Only problem is - you never see them - I only catch glimpses of their feet at feeding time ....We didn't even know there were 12 gigas in the old communal ...

I once had a H.Incei communal running :) Started off with 5 and 2 died (heating problem me thinks) but the other 3 were happy living together in a nice big tank but then I look at this thread and wow, what you doing is awesome :)

Good luck and please keep us updated as things progress, going to be very interesting to see how this turns out :D

We didnt start the initial H gigas communal, we received it from Usumbara as a gift when we visited him a few months ago to pick up a T. I have no idea how many were in the original communal.... That was one of the reasons for breaking it apart..

Just an update on how things are going - please note that most of the activities do not take place on the surface, but underground, so my updates will be very limited from now on :)

The tetra's aren't working as well as I'd hoped - the little suckers are dying one at a time... Thinking of switching to guppies soon!

I took this picture over the weekend, to show how the T's are living together in the communal:

Please note that the 2xT's are living in the same burrow. In the photo I caught them sitting legs inter twined ?! And yes, they are both alive and well. They also have 1x visible neighbour on the right hand side.

I suspect there are more of them living in that general area.

I find this very odd. In that huge tank with that much peat, they decided to stick together, instead of establishing territories? What is even more puzzling is that they have decided to split the tank in 2. You have T's living in the left side of the tank, close to the water (I've seen 3 of them living there) and you have the T's at the right side of the tank (very far away from the water).

I've also caught them "hunting" together... not more than 2 at a time.

This probably isn't anything important and there might be 1000 explanations for this, but I don't care. I think this is amazing :)

I have no idea if there are still 12 left. Only time will tell ....
