Just to weigh in on the conversation, I also had a go at acrylic/perspex enclosures and managed to make 1 before I abandoned the venture as it is not very cost effective.
They do turn out beautifully and if you have a small collection its probably worth pursuing.
I used Chloroform for the bonding of the panels, been almost 2 years and its still holding just fine.
Is awkward phoning around asking for Chloroform though, got it from a laboratory supply shop in the end.

you just drill holes with a drill bit or hole saw.
That is one benefit with using perspex to build cages with.

But as it has been said, perspex is pretty much expensive and not viable if you have plenty spiders.
but it looks awesome to have your spider setups made out of them though.
