Ok well i found this description on the Idiothele pluridentatum which became a synonymn to Pterinochilus lugardi (Dodoma Baboon) . Now the interesting point here is that the specimen used by Gallon to redescribe it and synonimize it as Pterinochilus lugardi (Dodoma Baboon) was the one found by Mr van Dam which he notes on his paper that is was a trapdoor maker. Hmmm interesting.

Found a post on Arachnoboards that one user mentioned that his Pterinochilus lugardi (Dodoma Baboon) made a trapdoor.

Something cool to think about.

@Dimitri: Thanks for doing the research I am too [strike]lazy [/strike]busy to do! Baboonspiders.de quotes I nigrofulva as unique in having the trapdoor making kung-fu.

It is indeed interesting. I wonder what it is like keeping one of these. Kind of the next step up from pet hole hehe!

Interesting. If these are considered Trapdoor Spiders, they are then legal to keep? Well, I suppose they're Idiothele, which makes them legal as they're not one of the protected species, no?

No they're not legal? Or no they're no Idiothele? Or no, they're not a Trapdoor species? The way I see it, anything that's name that doesn't show up on any of the protected lists is technically legal, like with Harpactirella and Brachionopus. People didn't realise until someone did some digging or whatever. So, wouldn't it be the same with Idiothele then as they don't show up on any of the "illegal" lists I've seen? Unless the name has changed?

As far as I am aware Idiothele is protected along with the Harpactira, Augacephalus, Ceratogyrus, Pterinochilus and Trichognathella.
