I think forget about the moult and take as good a new pic as possible for us and let's see where we are then :-)

You can take an Aphonopelma to crickets but you can't make it eat!

You can take as many pics as you want and with as many different cameras as you want but it's still a B. smithi. With juveniles (and very occasionally small sub adults) the orange colouration often bleeds into the tibia which seems to catch some people out.

Ja Thor, sorry to say, but there is noooooo way that that is an emelia. The emelia has a red carapace like that of the fireleg, with a black wedge from the eyes to the centre of the carapace. So really, I think you have been fooled.... Stunning b.smithi you have there still.

hmmmm -> well time will tell, but before the molt the T was brown - not orange, shades of orange, hues of orange, shades of red, tinges of red, hints of red, gradients from orange to red, IT WAS BROWN various shades of brown and I'm pretty sure of this as it's colours were truly awesome, so how it molts out into a B smithi is beyond my comprehension. I too agree that it looks like a B.smithi atm but what i want to know is how does it go from Brown -> red and black? this make 0 sense to me.????

Colours do become very dull before molts..all spiders.. but especially when they are still smallish. Out b.smithi slings are also very brownish in colour when they are due for a molt. The carapace should be a givaway in the case, as emelia will have a completely red/orange/brown/yellow carapace, except for the black triangle. And our emelia sling of 3cm already has the prominent black triangle visible. So i honestly don't think that this sling of yours will molt next time and look like an emelia. It sucks, because emelias are gorgeous specie. Good news...Rozanne has b.emelia slings for R120-R150 I think.
