Here is another type of cloud halo pic that I took. This occurs when the thunder cloud is building an punches through a cold fast moving humid inversion layer sometimes 10km up from the earth surface.

My brother has been a pilot for 3 years now....so he knows a lot. he has all the fancy computer programs.
