I worked my monthly usage out to about R230 with a 400w heater. I have a thermostat so its usually off during the day and on at night and early mornings. During winter i suspect it will be on 24/7 making things quite expensive....
Bear this in mind the more KWh you use the higher the Energy charge fee goes.
This is off a Invoice from Eskom over 2011/05/06 - 2011/06/07, so the more Hours you use the more the money goes up.
So using a heater 24/7 is not going to be that cheap.

Energy Charge(>50 KWh <= 350 KWh) 300 KWh @ R0. 6416 KWh: R 192.43

Last winter I ran a small panel eco heater in my spare room 24/7 behind the shelving I keep my T's on. It did not heat the entire room that well but it was sufficient to keep the area around the shelving warm, and that cost around R550 extra a month.
