There are eight in that communal. More Poecilotheria species can live communally than was previously beleived. A Pokie expert told me that it seems "cramped" living conditions improve the chanses of a successfull communal rather than a large enclosure. I am not surprised by this P metallica communal, just an expensive experiment. There are a number of Germans who have had success with P metallica. But then again, Germans have success with everything they touch...

It's easier to build a communal with your own offspring than to "buy and try"...

@Scarab, what others would you say will live together without destroying each other? And how on earth do you let them get use to each other?

Seems a bit complicated to me...

I don't know which, but certainly a few Poecilotheria species have possibilities. The point is that they were never considered as possible candidates for communal living, but this is changing.

There is absolutely nothing YOU can do, it's a matter of creating a sensable enclosure with enough nooks and crannies, keep them well fed with a clean environment. Nothing complicated about it really.

P. ornata seems to work easily, but I'm pretty sure most of Poecilotheria will be ok.

As you know, I've got two communals, one of 6 and one of 25 P. fasciata. They come from the same egg sac respectively. I've read of a German guy who keeps P. fasciata communals, big and small together, with no hassles. He even introduced completely strange large ones to a communal.

Otherwise Holothele incei is known to live in communals but a freshly introduced stranger will most likely get eaten there. Also Monocentropus balfouri is said to be very tolerant, and I know that one indiviual on this forum is DYING to try them in a communal:D

Cool, thanx Scarab. Do you think A. Versicolor's or Avicularia braunshauseni will work?
