Hey guys
Really enjoyed Expo. Spent a lot more money than intended, but was still a lot of fun.
Ended up with:
1x B. smithi (biggest sling I saw in the entire expo)
1x C. cyanopubescens (sling)
1x C. perezmilesi (sling)
And 1x P. irminia (sling)
The Suntiger is the main reason I'm responding to this thread. I got it from the Tarantulas.co.za guys, and I dug around in their pile for quite a while, trying to find a large specimen, which I eventually did. Got it home, and all was fine. Sunday morning I fed it a cricket, which it hald devoured, and then left. It was having trouble climbing the glass walls of the tank, so I assumed it was near a shed. Then a couple of hours later it started battling to walk around properly. It eventually went into a death curl, and only moved when I touched it... A bit of research, and I put it in an ICU container with a lot of heat, good ventilation and high humidity. When I checked again this morning, it was dead.
I was hugely disappointed by this, as I have always loved Suntigers, and after finally managing to get hold of one, it died less than 48 hours later. I don't think it was something I did wrong, as all my other new arrivals got exactly the same treatment, ate the same stock of crickets, and are all fine... It seems very similar to Sudden Avic Death Syndrome, but I'm a bit confused as the Suntiger is not an Avicularia species...
Any ideas anybody??
