Now I understand the need to protect our environment, and therefore its illegal to keep any indigenous species as a pet.

Thats all fine.

What I was wondering was why ALL T's are illegal in the western cape. I have read the other threads on this, but no one seems to know why.

How is the ecology in the eastern cape so sensitive compared to the rest of the country? Are the protecting the other spiders or their prey?

Just wondering.

if you apply for a permit to legalise the T's you have "they" show up with "muscle" and confiscate your babies. best to remain off the grid then... :(

Yes, that might happen, as you should probably apply for a permit before getting the spiders.

I don't get the fuss about fynbos...

Unless Tarantula crap dissolves fynbos or tarantulas will eat too many species of creatures that support the life of fynbos... which is unlikely... how do any Tarantulas cause any hassles to a bush? Unless they eat ALL the species of creatures that affect the survival of fynbos.

LOL, I just realized... I don't even know what fynbos is... sounds like really expensive and good quality weed ;). AHAAAA!

I just figured out why all Capetonians are so laid back!!! They all smoke the fynbos!

:)
