I would like to apologise to anyone I offended by my post. I have been walking in the fynbos and explored its biodiversity for 13 years now. I have seen: numerous baboon spiders, nearly ten different species of snake, tortoises, cape fox, caracal, mongoose, antelope and even the invasive Tar. This is why I get worked up. The bidiversity is insane if you spend sometime exploring. To destroy this would be a shame!!! Sorry again. Oh, my grammar is shocking!!!! :laugh:

There are apparently colonies of beardie's in Limpopo as well as numerous burmese pythons being found around SA.
I had a guide who I use to tour with that use to remove problem snakes in Centurion.
He was called out to a huge anaconda in the Centurion lake as well as a "Puff adder" in Midrand.
The puffy turned out to be a Rattlesnake, who proceeded to have 20 odd babies a few weeks after being caught.

Do I think that Western Cape nature conservation is going a bit over the top? Probably
But, would I rather have them ban too much than too little? Rather too much if it can cause problems like this.
Would I prefer the whole country to adopt the Cape's laws if it meant possibly saving just one local species? YES.

I think that the Western Cape Nature Conservation has just done it to protect its fauna and flora from elements of the unknown which I personally think is a good thing (Just happy I don't stay there )

Seriously though that's really kak news and means the problem is probably way worse because these are only the few instances brought to the forefront.

That does not happen, If you apply for a permit and they turn your application down, they give you a chance to find your Exotic Pets a new home, out side of the Cape, if it is a good enough reason they mite allow you to keep them, with some terms and conditions.
They only way to know is to try, and not say they going to do this and that, if you don't have the right answer!

The fact remains, there have been laws and legislation passed for a reason.
