Fynbos is the collective term for all the different types of plants found on and around table mountain. They are found no where else. There are even some species of insects which are unique to the region.

Im very upset... I read the Ultimate Exotics Maazine (Which I am subscribed to) and it seems as if they are giving information on how to capture and keep all the Baboon Spiders of Africa??

Why would they do such a thing?

Could someone please clear this up for me? I may have it wrong... its Vol.6 No. 2 March/April

I can scan in the pages if you want as well.

They are giving away locaion names, telling ppl how to keep them etc...

I just figured out why all Capetonians are so laid back!!! They all smoke the fynbos!

Now you know what to do next time you visit Table Mountain :)

people really make some stupid comments on this forum!! wont metion any names!! you should do some research on fynbos and how important it is to us as south africans. I have a home in CT and have found many baboons spiders in the fynbos over the years!!!!. I could go out on any one day and bring back bucket loads. If exotic T's entered this system our baboons could be decimated. People live on the edge of the fynbos and it would take just one gravid female to escape and it could cause serious problems!!!!!!!!

just a thought!!!

So other than they pose a danger to "die fynbos" nobody actually knows how specifically detrimental the T's will be?

Hmm.. I wonder who (other than the guvment who does not seem to know why themselves or is unwilling to tell us) we could get hold of to find out. Surely there must be some kind of study to support the decision?

Has it always been this way or is it a recent development?
