Thanks Dimitri.

It will be interesting to see what form the 'discouraging' will take once the potentially invasive species have been identified.

Who heads up the hobbyist committee so the hobbyists can ask questions?

That is the reason i have created this topic so you all can ask your questions and we will try answer them.

Committee is as follows:

On this forum : Taki, Scarab (Rian) , Hendrijs (Hendrik) , Ceratogyrus (Ruan) , The Animal (Thomas) and Myself (Dimitri)
Off the forum : Ian Visser, Arno Naude

We will be assisting Nature Conservation with 2-3 projects in trying to identify potential invasive species. More information will be announced once we get the go ahead.

Thanks Dimitri!

The most pertinent question for me in Mpumalanga is; Is there talk of rolling this out to other provinces, and until this has happened, once GP has implemented permits, how will it affect me buying / selling exotics across provincial borders?

We have approached Nature Conservation, Mpumalanga who showed a keen interest to also roll out this permit system, however we need Gauteng to approve it first before we will have discussions with other provinces.

The transport of any animal across provincial borders must have a permit. That legislation has been in operation for many years.
