Hi all, still have a problem with a couple of suppliers.

High pressure misting system with 12 sprayer, pipes, connectors, pump, filters. everything you need to install your own system. R13000 excl.
Components can be bought separate, but will be more expensive.

Controller to control the humidity. R1200
Humidity sensor. R750
2 x fans. R500 each
Humidity / Temp display (nice to have) R170
Skylights. Still waiting for quotation.
18000 BTU aircon. App. R6500 depending on the make, some cheaper and some more expensive

I am still waiting for prices on ready build humidity systems. They phoned me to get some more info. They gave me a price indication but said i will have the final cost by tomorrow.

Misting system like used in the Zoo in Britain. R50000
Steam system app. R30000 will consume 7,5Kw of power. That is the same as 2.5 geysers.

I got the other prices from 1 supplier that sell everything and I know he is a bit expensive. All prices is excluding vat.If I shop around a bit I will find the stuff cheaper, but this is a good indication.

I think it is safe to say that the home made system will cost about 35k. Ready made systems for humidity only costs up to 50k, that is without temp control.

I am lucky in one way, i will install and wire up the system myself, for those who cant, you must add a couple of thousand extra for installation.

If anyone needs more specific info on makes and models, or suppliers, please pm me and i will give you all the info.

Just received the Quotation on the Steam system with 7.5kw elements.

R20000. With the addition electricity charges the same as what is used with 2.5 geysers.

Not an option imo

Whoa. I don't have that kind of cash. Looks like this dream will be put on hold for me for a while.

No need to put on hold, you can still do the room and enclosures and the plants or landscaping or whatever it is that you want to do. How do you control temp or humidity now? and the T's are are doing ok. Your plans will just force you to do it on a bigger scale. You can always do the tepm/humi thing later.

Build your dream, I am sure the T's will be ok. How long have you been keeping T's without these fancy systems. These systems are nice to have but not a necessity.

but I have to admit it will be nice watching the T,s rather than running around with a spray bottle and switching the heater on an off the whole time.

Stay well.

Thanx for all the effort Jaco, but being an electrician I'm sure I will be able to create some sort of setup with things "laying" around the house.

@snarf, its a pleasure :)

Also being an electrician, I can relate to your way of thinking, but it goes further than saving money. I agree there is a lot of ways to do this, but what I want to build is something special and i don't mind spending the money to achieve my goal.

Its all about personal preference, I don't want to spend money trying and trying and doing it over till I succeed, I might end up spending more doing it over and paying a fortune for electricity over a long period. Ill rather spend the money on the correct equipment and save for the rest of the time, I mean T's live for a long time and I will get the initial money back in savings.

Please share your ideas, I am sure it could be of use to a lot of keepers that want to try an affordable way of doing that.
