I have had a look at the following website ( Tarantulacages.com ) with regards to acrylic cages and wish someone here in South Africa would build cages to this quality.

I have made contact with him and he is prepared to ship to South Africa at an extra cost obviously.

Excluding the shipping I don't think the cages are badly priced either. He quoted my US$65.00 to have a small arboreal and terrestrial shipped. This was a bit steep though.

@ Tazzmanian: Uhm... the post above yours AND the one above that...

And I do believe lunchbox makes quality enclosures. I have seen pictures and they look seriously top notch.

It's quite expensive to do it yourself and you'll pay an unnecessary fortune for cages from Tarantulacages.

But hey, it's your moola :D

That is one thing, perspex is made out of petroleum, and thus costs more than glass cages... And it also varies in price like the petrol prices...

I personally do not think it is worth it, we only use glass cages.. Perspex has a couple of down sides where glass doesn't have a problem.

I have Pm'd Jaco and will have a look at his photos in comparison to the acrylic ones. I'm sure it should be awesome.

Thanks.

i also thought making them yourself is better.
my reason: bought a few thanks at the expo last year and it looked great and you wont think that anything will go wrong, but then i saw a few slings went missing,
so i checked real close and saw that the top were you put the lid on were way off it had like half a cm wich were open and thats were my slings went off. but im not saying dont buy tanks, but if you do,dont be an idiot like me and check first if it seals properly :)

thought you might want to look at this if you want to build your own cages !! I'm sure they can cut to size aswell.
