MY QUESTION IS..
how many of our locals are banned?
do we have any locals that you are allowed to keep?Can you keep locals if they were bred in captivity if they were infact bred by a permit holder? cos i really think our local Ts are awesome..im not sure if the question has been asked and if anyone has posted the list if what is or is not banned...if so please can the Guys in the know how tell me...

Im really no expert and i have asked this question myself.
From the responses i got i learned that ALL our local T's are banned.

I'm not sure about their status if they were bred in captivity by a permit holder but my gut tells me that without a permit they are illegal to keep unless the owner of the T possesses a permit.

I'm sure you'll get a response from some one more clued up in no time.

All the local T's are protected under law and
thats all thanks to a clown from Louis Trichard
that stipped them out of nature by the hundreds
and exported them to the US. And Caret can tell
you that getting a permit is close to impossible.

I have spoken to some one that got it right to
get permits easily for local snakes. If natcon
declines your application for a permit they have
to give you a sientific reason why. And that is
the loop hole.

I think it's the other way round. YOU have to give THEM a scientific reason why you want to keep them, and they can decline without explanations?

That is correct scarab.

As for Shaun's questions.
All South African genera are protected (Go read the cute little tab between "My topics" and "Help" named "Rules". There is a list of protected genera there).
You can keep locally bred South African genera if you have a valid permit for them. Simple as that.
