Unfortunately I don't completely agree with Slasher on the rain water idea. Depending of course on where you are.
I do water quality monitoring and I would just put it out there that in some areas for example Mpumalanga rain water has been recorded with pH levels of less than 4 (Acid rain). This happens when there are high levels of sulphur and nitrogen oxides in the air combined with water to make up these acidic solutions. Mostly around power stations and metal industry.

As much as we promote rain water harvesting for various purposes I think most still prefer using municipal water as opposed to rainwater for potable applications ie human consumption.

There are exceptions of course where municipal water is no longer considered safe for human consumption but here in Gauteng we still have some of the best water quality in the world.

That is soooo last century.

We have a better system now. You cover the open parts of the cage to restrict ventilation. The water evaporates slowly from the water dish and maintains an even, moderate humidity without getting anything wet or annoying the tarantula. And, you don't have to fuss with it once or five times daily.

Besides, if you don't use distilled water (or the equivalent), the mineral buildup on the decorations and sides of the cage will soon make them unusable. Instead of paying a lot of money for distilled water, stop misting and buy another tarantula. (That's called getting your priorities straight!)
