Too bad you didn't read my post first. It would have saved you a lot of work.

Me too. No more so than my Glock 9 mm. As long as people leave me alone, and I leave it alone, everybody's gonna be all right. The problem arises when someone who doesn't appreciate what they should do because they've been talking with the wrong people or reading the wrong stuff tries to "hot dog" it with them. That's when bad things happen. Respect the spider and the spider will respect you.

Enjoy your little 8-legged piece of half-billion-year-old evolution and engineering.

I must agree with Stan.

It sounded like it was contained to the bark only, which you took care of.
I would only remove and wash my container if the mold or mushroom spores spreads out of control.
First line of attack, is to remove the effected area or piece of bark.
Once that has been done and the cage has another break out again then you clean it out properly.

As it was said, silicone is also another reason why your tanks become problematic, I had a tank like that, I would keep washing and new peat and it kept getting spores, eventual, I cut the silicone out and redid the cage and have not had issues again.

You can also nuke the peat in the microwave or cook it on the stove top.

Thanks for all the help, links and advice. I did not want to take any chances with the enclosure. The little Formosa seems to be in pre molt. So I went for the whole 9 yards and cleaned it all. Seems to have done the trick.
