Sometimes it is the most honest looking people giving you up the behind. It might be the petshop with the cleanest cages or the man with the cooolest wife and kids. At the end of the day you will eventually learn not to trust people.
Who here knows Justin from Permatrix, he is a outstanding looking oke with a proper honest look about him but he still gave me hell a hell of a ride. That bastard had me in tears.

What happened with him?
Traded 2 cresties from him 2 days ago cause they were not doing to well in his shop, and looks like I might lose both. Can't walk properly and struggle to eat. Would take it back to him, but they will definately die there. :(
Been dealing with him for a long time and never had hassles like this before, but has definately taken a dent in his reputation. :(

Well we all know the risk of a male dying. I have also thought about taking a video while mating in case the male turns into chow, but some people have learn't to leave a male in a females enclosure for a extended period of time, depending on the species. To really cover your own ass, one would even try a 24/7 webcam or what ever is available. Your recording of the mating was perfect evidence the male survived that time. But we don't all have the luxury of owning a 24/7 camera to record the mating process. Sending a male to a person is a gamble through and through. That is why there should be an arrangement between the two parties. Hell I am trying to breed my first tarantula :) luckily I have 2 Mature Males (rcf) and a female, who all belongs to me. The same story with the H.incei with 3 males, that was given free to me by Hendrjis expecting nothing in return. But when it comes to tarantulas with a reputation of killing males then the person should be informed of this reputation.

My problem is even if the evidence is clear that a male was eaten in front of the owner of the male, that he/she should not harbor any negative and ill feelings towards the breeder. Why? Well the owner of the male should have:

a) Done his/her research on who would be best suited to loan his male to. On the breeding report thread you only see successful stories "Happy stories, even lucky" but what you don't see is how many times people have tried and failed! Remember that. I have failed twice before with my own males and females. I've learn't a few lessons "fatten her up etc, YET if I succeed more than once with given species, it will not mean that I will always succeed. Then we wonder why the Germans have a factory filled with mature females, and males mating "because not every breeding attempt WILL succeed. Humans work the same "miscarriages, stillborn children, sudden infant death syndrome, unborn children the list goes on.
b) Decide on the breeding loan or conditions there of
c) Expect the inevitable "if something can go wrong, it will" newton's law (Newton sound like a very pessimistic person to me  )

So in closing it boils down to a few things. Enjoy the hobby, we all know the risks, yes there are unworthy people out there, people who should never be trusted. But for the sake of us all provide the evidence, and pray that you are not digging your own hole?

Last question where would we all be if there wasn't a forum like this? For heaven sake I made more friends in the process :) and the bug still bites ;) enjoy ever second, our own lives are to short to worry about the mundane things. Please?
