Hahaha, no the facial piercings arent manditory, but prefered 
There are a lot of beautiful spiders (especialy the blue ones!). When i started out i only had the ugliest curly hair tarantula you could ever imagin. But now, i still only have that curly ... Lol
Waiting till the auction would be worth it!
You'll learn a lot and youll get a chance to meet the tarantulas face to face. That would give you an idea of which spiders you should consider buying!

Firstly, those "hook thingys" you are referring to are called "tibial hooks" or in some rodeo obsessed, mullet sporting societies, "tibial spurs". These are found on the front legs neighbouring the pedipals, are mating aids and are not on the hind legs. Males of some species lack these appendages, the majority have one on each leg and a few species have two.
Secondly, Mam Marula, there is no proof that females can not re establish a burrows. Chances are she would be predated before she can, but if left to her own devices, she probably would have a great chance building a new home. (Based on current ongoing studies - University Pretoria).
Seeing that this one had a wondered onto a bed, presumably not to take a nap, I hope it's a male. Either way Mark, it is best it goes back.
