I was just wondering what you had said that was hate (and delete) worthy.

It's so cliche but we really are capable of so much more than we are managing at the moment. Then again, perhaps we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves. This stuff takes time, and we are as a species extremely young with quite a bit on our plates. More and more people are questioning things that for generations we accepted as given, and that's a good thing, even if it muddies the water.

We're pretty much all slaves, although in a way more nefarious and insipid way than ever before. Our lives are worth so little and our interactions with our world and each other have devolved into cheap transactions. As long as we sit quielty in our corners colouring inside the lines, we'll stay there. And we will for a long time yet, because we like the picture and get to choose which crayons to use. We need to get to the point where we start question the picture.

Be born, be a good kid, go to school, go to university if you can afford it, get a job, get a car, get a house, get the girl, get married, get a better job, have kids, get a bigger car (which colour would you like your servtitude in sir?) get set up for retirement, retire, grow old, fling poo at the nurses because you really can't give a damn, then die.

Personally, I think we should skip the lot and go get drinking on the beach and fling poo at each other, but that's just me : )

I'm not impossible. I'm being improbable.

How long will we need Marius? Being in possession of one of the most advanced brains on the planet, is six thousand years (give or take a few thousand) not enough?

I love the way you describe the monotony of a human life. I would just not limit the "poo flinging" to the elderly...

BUT

I am willing to put this on record, and will probably be dead when it comes to fruition. We all know that the Egyptian empire came to a fall, so did the Greek, so did the Romans.

Youngsters take note, uncle Scarab makes this prediction:

"HUMAN RIGHTS" WILL SINK SOCIETY AS WE KNOW IT TODAY.

Of this there can be NO doubt.

Damn straight and right you are Scarab.

No problem.

I don't know how long (assuming the question wasn't rhetorical). Personaly I think for all our mental disorders and opposable thumbs, and the way we have rocketed to this point compared to our fellow mammals, our motivations are still incredibly base.

For a long time people weren't shitty to each other because of the belief in some supreme being with a master plan with fists of thunder and eternal damnation*. People question this now, and like petulant children push the boundries to see what will happen. Nothing does, and we are so obsessed with living in the moment that possible, unproven, one-day eternal damnation is not a strong enough deterrent. Our leaders (who up to a point insisted they were appointed by said supreme being), systems of .gov and authority figures are so corrupt and unfair they have to be challenged, and increasingly they are.

Mix into this the frustration of people being exploited to the point of fail, living hollow husks of 'life' where quality of life is measured in resource management (protect that clean credit record with your life, son) insteadand of sharing desert dawns standing in the pegs of your bike, or opening viable P. Metallica eggsacs kind of experiences, I think it is no surprise we are going through some kind of moral dark age.

Human rights, I think, is just another flawed attempt at finding a sollution. The idea behind it is sound, but the implementation sucks.

We'll get there. Or something with most our DNA will hehe.

The secret to a good game of flingpoo is to not fling with open mouth. : /

Marius, you have taken a flookin' huge hammer and bliksemed the nail right through the wood mate.

This sounds kinda familiar. It's a simple choice, you either live or you don't.

My wife and I live by this, and will raise our children accordingly:
Reality is a dream we have learned to live with. Tomorrow only matters when it has passed. We live "some day", today, we will remember only what we have experienced. We live because we are not afraid to die!

As things stand currently, "human rights" will implode, because it contradicts itself. As long as we believe we are doing the human race a favor by protecting the weak, housing the criminal, feeding the lazy, curing "the plague", shifting the blame, refusing responsibility, raping the planet... we simply have no hope of improvement.
