But don't just talk about it, do something about it! You can not expect nat con to contact you to talk about legalizing tarantulas/baboon spiders.

The meeting took place last year August already, so you are a few months late. Was a good snacks and lunch day then already. Where were you?

Nothing yet, but I know the guy personally, so he will get back to us. We are dealing with government here. There is no rush anyway, as I stated earlier.

Saving the spiders was unfortunately the wrong thing to do. Did anybody bother saving any of the beetles, grasshoppers, worms from the areas? Or the plants? Surely they are just as important?
Whoever "saved" spiders is now sitting with illegal animals on their premises and should be prepared to face the law if it gets to it.

Would you have/Have you ever had sleepless nights over all the plants or beetles that were killed when they built the house you are living in now? How about that cow that you ate last night? Surely it was killed for our benefit as well, just as the spiders were for building our houses(Unless you are a vegetarian?)? Or the animals that were living in Gauteng all those years ago when people starting colonizing the outskirts of JHB?
Unfortunately that is the world that we live in.
Think this is getting into a discussion into the moral side of humanity more than is needed, so back to topic.
Where are all the Cape members on here? What is your feeling on this and when are you getting together? If it were me, it would be arranged for this weekend already.

Well the problem with all get togethers here in WC is we are only a hand full of people that are in the hobby of exotic animals and these few of us live far apart from each other. Take me as a example, I live in Oudtshoorn but I guess the meeting will be held in Cape town. That is an almost 500km drive from me which is very expensive with the petrol price now and there is people that live even further away.

We had a workshop for reptiles a while back where we where able to meet the Nat Con team and also have a bit of a meeting with them and also I could not attend. There are loads of people in WC that keep snakes but they are far apart from each other, It is not like in the big city's like JHB and so on where we have 50 + people keeping snakes in one city, over here you are luck to have 5 - 10 people keeping snakes in one town and of those people only one or two per town is serious about the hobby the others just have them as pets. All in all there wasn't a big show of people at this workshop. Only the people that lived in the area could attend.
