Ye I agree with duke, you let the substrate dry out completely and leave a water bowl and the mites should die off, or get some isopods they really work well in the Ts that need damp substrate.

I've had the same problem a month ago in one of my tanks. Almost microscopic white dots moving around slowly.

My Resolution:
Removed the T
Emptied substrate into a big bowl
Washed out tank & foliage thoroughly
Microwaved substrate on high for about 30sec
Left substrate to cool
Replaced substrate, foliage & T.
Haven't seen the mites again thus far so i'm assuming this worked :whistle:

Yes its little . shaped white stuff. Im going to remove the sling and put new peat in. Its still a sling so it has no water bowl, affraid of letting the peat dry out because its still a sling. he is about 3cm.

Ok I know what I have done is not the right way but it worked, in my B.smitht and B.boehmei enclosures I had mites. So what I dit is leave the T's in the enclosures and I removed the infected area's and cleaned the enclosures niceley by removing the top of my peat soil. And so far no mites agian its not the right way but it worked :lol:

Either way it is no great problem as they cause no harm to the spiders. Let the enclosure dry out and problem solved.

and yes as Duke mentioned, you can let the enclosure dry out and that will kill all of them or you can do a complete tank clean - the problem with this is the mites can still remain on your T and go into the new enclosure when you rehouse the T

I've been having the same problem , tiny white stuff that move kinda slow , they seem to feed on the left over parts of the crickets ..so what I've done is remove left overs as soon as possible and put a fan in my room for better air flow ,never seen them for quite some time now .

I don't think they are harmful since I never saw any on my Ts .Hope this helps
