Hi all

I wanted to ask a question, what will cause a Spider to go bald, the Tarantula in question is basically bald across it whole body, legs, abdomen and it carapace, got patches of hair on it feet and that is it.
it is Lampropelma violaceopes.

Will stress be a cause, lack of calcium, humidity.

Will try take some photos?

That's very odd, this species doesn't flick bristles. They do brush off some of the hair on their abdomen and legs I saw before coming to a moult.
Please see if you can't get us a picture, would love to see this.

Had this with one of my T's.

It went on for months..Eventually stopped eating.
Got thinner until it died..

It never moved sluggish or acted sick..

One day it seemed fine.The next is was dead.

is this Maybe a Mature male?

The new camera I'm using is not very friendly to taking pictures of spiders, this is the best I could active.
I will be attaching a 6 photos this should give you the full view of how the spider look, the spider also seems sluggish and week, I touched it to get it to move. The spider has been sitting on the substrate, not even making webbing.

That is rather odd... must say I have not yet come across this problem. Thanks for the pics.

Has it got any other symptoms? I mean when it moves does it move erratically? Is their any white gooey substance inside and around it's mouth parts?

I think try and give us as much info as possible too, like current temp, humidity, what you have been feeding it till now etc.

OK Will try.
It is not actually mine.
It is for sale at my local Pet store.
Some women is moving to Some Place and needs to sell them so she asked my LPS to sale them for her.

So as far as what the LPS Lady at the Pet store has told me, that is it, which is not much information.
Just that the cage was dry and had a bit of un-eaten crickets remains.(which the LPS lady did remove the remains)
The other spiders that are for sale are all in good health.

It moved fine this morning when I relocated it into a container for the Pet shop owner to clean and add new substrate.
I did check its underside for mites and anything else that might give an answer.


The temp in the Shop is 28degress and that was at 16:00.
The owner of the pet store did spray the enclosure before I left.
I did ask her How cold the shop gets at night.

As far as that information I gave you, that is it.
