Firstly, you can't compare wolves/dogs with interbreeding tarantula species (if they are indeed separate species), as the wolf is technically still the same species as your dachshund in the backyard.

Harm can be easily done when selling off hybrids, even if the original breeder is honest about what they are. The next owner may be different.

I had a hybrid Pokie which was originally sold as a pure species but turned out as a cross between a striata and a regalis.

To me such cross breeds are purely of pet value, as I wouldn't introduce them to a breeding program.

A good example for the harm that can be done by hybridizing intentionally or unintentionally can be seen with the B. vagans group. Not sure if anybody can claim to have the pure B. vagans at home nowadays.

Thank you. I think there will always be 2 sides of the fence here. But like I said I prefer my Pokie to be pure. And if a new species is cross bread it should be well established and easily identified from its cross parents.

Else we can all just chuck T's in tanks and see what happens and have hybrids all over the place. I for one will loose interest in the hobby.

Let me first state, I'm a pure bred T guy myself, BUT

if you want to compare dogs then I prefer a 'pavement special' Dogs are so in-bred when you get to pure breds that they have all kinds of problems in the various pure dog species.

Now obviously this problem do not apply to Ts, so dogs might just be a bad example.... Think we have a similar problem with in-breeding when we talk about politicians, lawyers and Metro police :whistle:
