Dear Mr Scarab

I would like to respectfully request some effort from you :D Would it be to much to ask of you to take a large, top down (or at downward angle) picture of your entire communal setup? And on this picture mark where which Ts (and how much of them) have made a nest. For us right hemisphere people ;)

Sincerely,
Swifty

Edit: Call it pic1 of the M.Balfouri migration chronicle :P

Jeeeezzz...

It is very difficult to get the ENTIRE enclosure into a "normal" image, but here goes.

A - The nest of the original five that were introduced with their mother now living with her adopted babies in nest "B".
B - The adult females nest with her 10 adopted babies.

As you can see from the image, one of the juveniles are at the entrance of the adult females nest. It made a nest just above the "B" in the image, very close to the adult females nest. You might think THAT IS the adult female, but she is three times the size of that juvenile. The ten slings (now about 4cm in leg span) are currently inside the nest to the bottom of the picture, as is the adult female.

It seems the one that was asked to leave got the massage... :P

The other two that are not featured in any of these pictures MIGHT still be in nest "A", or MIGHT have moved somewhere else, but I could not see them anywhere. They are a lot more active when I forget to open my spider room curtains and the light is less intense. Will try get a picture when they are all out and about.

oh my gosh :) So much have changed. I also feel Scarab that you will have to eventually increase the size of the enclosure to such a degree that you have the entire enclosure running in the shape of a U. I am sure in the not so far future that you will have a couple of breeding pairs with offspring everywhere :) I was wondering when one of them would move out. Shame but at least he/she will be settled in before the rest, who will also eventually move out, if ever?

I am seriously considering taking the adult female out. She molted two weeks ago, there are no mature males in there. If I put an adult male in with her and she drops a sac (as I can guarantee she will) there will be pandemonium. I can't see myself breaking her nest to remove 80 slings, and even if I was prepared to, I would hardly be able to catch the little shits because they are VERY schneeky...

I do realize that this enclosure will one day turn into Hong Kong, but that is then. Will worry about that when the day comes.

Maybe I will have a braai and hand out free beer !! The most pissed person (other than myself) can hunt for M balfouri babies and keep what he/she can catch. Hey? HEY? We wait 'till Magnificent Duke can avail himself, then we make it "three-in-one", M balfouri hunt/get together/piss-up ?? HEY ?? Not that I drink though...
