Mmmmm, like I said, it is not what you say but how you say it, everyone should better themselves, I agree. If you have nothing good to say to someone do not post anything in their thread, leave it to someone who does not mind to answer their questions. Teaching someone is to be responsible and patient not rude.I have many friends in different countries who are also in the T hobby, and the name thing has NEVER been a problem. Most people know what you are talking about. So that's pure nonsense. Because you only know one name it should go your way as you are not interested or pepared to learn the other names or even compromise. Suzi88, Cascade and Jaco, thanx for the constructive input. Trying to tell the moderators about every post that is not on par is ridiculous.
Actually if you know all their common names and the scientific name it means you actually did your homework and have a good knowledge base. I try to use both of them interchangeably so I will be able to converse with everyone I meet.
If you were a professional in the field making spelling mistakes or mistakes on the name, it is a different story. I do not need anyone’s permission or pat on the back to buy yself an animal, as long as I am responsible in caring for it. You learn as you go along because you will never be prepared enough. Ask the Pretoria zoo, they had Komodo dragons that died previously of a bacterial infection. Even though they had the best care and vets possible and the latest research info available (not forgetting the correct biological names and correct spelling), it still happened. Guess what, they recently got 2 more and this time round they will try even harder. Everyday there are members that ask advice and info, then someone comes along and tell you that you should do your research. And you have no business keeping an animal if you did not do your research.
My point is, if you cannot read what the person has tried to say due to their language usage being poor, do not embarass them.
Also do not worry, professional zoologist, arachnologists, biologist and herpetologists will not be making spelling mistakes, it is their choice to study and understand taxonomy.
Lastly regarding the language thing, you only get better at it by using it on a daily basis and being on the forum helps them to exercise it. Dyslexia is more prevalent than you would think, and the brain work differently, but most dyslexic people are extremely intelligent. Using a spell checker seems like your answer to this issue, but I know that it will not help a person who has learning dissabilities or dyslexia there is much more to those conditions.
It’s like partaking in sports or learning a new skill – you are given the basics but you still need to physically exercise to master it, you can never learn everything there is to learn before doing the physical part.
Regarding the Karma points, it is not about the karma points if you have not understood me the first time, it means nothing, it is about maliciousness, making someone you perceive to be weaker than you look stupid with a -3 score for all to see, and that is how other members see it too. For all I care you can put that crap where the sun don't shine. So keep your stupid remarks about that to yourself. I for one never have or will care what people think or say about me. Those who know me, knows what I am talking about. And I will take on anyone that is behaving rudely. I mean what are they going to do, call the T police. I am already crapping my pants, NOT !!!! But common courtesy does go along way. Great minds think alike and fools never differ. That is why you will see that it is a handful of members doing this again and again and back then each other up on that to save face.
GONGRATULATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
