In my opinion you can't go wrong with the Lumix FZ50, especially if you don't want to carry around extra lenses.

I will be buying a DSLR as well soon, but will not get rid of my FZ50 because it is a good all-rounder, albeit with it's limitations and noisy low-light performance. Just have a look at the pictures in my gallery, they were all taken with this camera. Matt from SAInverts used the exact same setup, except with 2 x 1000W external lights where I use a home-made diffuser over my pop-up lens.
