I have had pokies for 3 years already, and have never been bitten or even come close to being bitten by a pokie. During this time I have accidentally handled most of them and never felt like I was in any danger of recieving a bite.
Never understand this thing of people being scared of pokies??? If you give them space and respect they are just like any other tarantula. They rather run and hide than stand and fight IMO.

lol. i do not care what spider it were, i never killed a spider before but now if i feel something crawling on me at night, i smack myself silly to get it of.Taki wrote: I'll tell you what I would do here.... swap just one of the pokies for that curly that you want so bad (providing you really are sure it's female).
I would have to agree with cerat on the pokie issue, I too have never seen any aggression from any of mine either! It's simply in the back of people's minds that their venom is more 'significant' that has people fearing them.
The spider that bit you would almost certainly have been the good old sac spider that bites people readily and usually in their sleep, it makes an ulcerating wound to varying degrees on different people but is generally insignificant. That's 'IF' it was indeed a spider bite.
