sorry guys,its true i didn't know much about obt's besides that u not supposed to have one.the idea of releasing it might not have been a good thought but the intention was not to kill it,so not to be cruel and chucking it in a fridge.so what do you do when one falls in your lap?i understand the mess it would have made and to be honest i thought it was a native specie.i would not have just released something in to the wild i just cracked a joke and i will watch what i say in future.i'm not mad at anyone but see the stab in the hart it might have caused.thanks for helping me in the right direction,u gotta learn sometime,hey.everybody started sometime and made silly faults too,yesterday was mine so except my apology.so is anybody going to sell me a a.metallica now?cheers guys and gals.

I'm sure some of you that spend time on junkmail has seen some worse.. I often see baby rock pythons, leopard tortoises, brown house snakes.. And loads of obt's for sale ... Sad...

@ Cryptic, some of those reptiles you can get permits for.

That I know for a fact, python, brown house, and certain tortoises.

Releasing any exotic into the wild would have grave ramifications for the hobby.

To promote and grow our hobby we need to be responsible for it.

It is our responsibility to conserve our own fauna and flora.

Keeping what we keep, obviously started with some form of interest. Don't let that interest and passion stop at the animal...

When we keep animals, we surely think of their environment to reproduce it in the enclosure not so? When we move our focus a bit further, and see the whole eco system as a whole, we soon realize how easy it is to throw a spanner in the works.

The perfect example of exotics causing havoc is in the angling hobby. Bass vs Yellowfish.

In the US some fishkeeper dumped what is called in the common tongue a snake head, and there was some dire consequences to a lot of the aquatic life in certain lakes and river systems.

All I am saying is this - Be Responsible.

Tarantula keeping is still young in South Africa compared to other countries, and we have the ability to make a difference to it. Be it promote, or be it kill...

As previously stated, his intentions were only on the life of the T, which is very understandable, but his knowledge on this species was obviously very minimal hence the idea. But all in all, I shall be giving the T away to permit holder soon enough It is a really beautiful, but yet a somewhat invasive species which is why a good educational lesson for Slasher arose!

And Slasher, now you know why people get so up in arms about the dreaded Pterinochilus Murinus! No harm no foul brother!

No deep freeze. People will say that it doesn't hurt and you go to sleep without pain but that is far from it. Your blood freezes, the veins explode and cells break down. Rather let him live his last few days in a nice enclosure.

EDIT: Also remember the Flowerpot Snake. I know it is an exotic species and it has established itself in SA. Dont release Exotics into the Wild. Look at Florida. They have Burmese Pythons, Avic's and B. Vagans living in the Evereglades.
