My first post, so here I go

One of my T's, a 8cm female Cobalt Blue I have in a 30x30x30 tank.
I have redone the tank 3 weeks ago adding + - 15cm deep coco peat that I expanded myself from a large dry block I got from LifeStyle.

Now the problem is that down mid depth and also around the water dish there is a white moldy/fungus slowly staring to form.
The squeezed the max water out as is generally suggested.

What do I do, was thinking of adding a full toilet roll to the cage on the surface and leave for a few days to absorb as much of the moisture that condenses against the sides and then removing in this way not desturbing the nice digging and tunneling done and not having to redo the cage if not have to.

Is this white fungus a problem if I just brush away as it comes back ?

I could be wrong but mechanical removal of only the funged-up areas might just assist in spore distribution.

Perhaps remove the T and place the enclosure in direct sun light for a day?

Also try adding a few isopods. They will assist in cleaning the enclosure.

Those dry blocks are definitely contaminated with fungi spores. I get exactly the same stuff. My cobalt female died it might be due to the fungi. I'm also going to hunt for isopods.

Did you nuke your substrate before you put it into your enclosure?

If you see fungus or mold starting to grow in your enclosure remove the affected area and replace with new substrate.
And if you have to clean the tank out, the spider is more important than what the mold is.

So do don't let it get out of hand, your spider will be fine if it has to re-dig her enclosure!


Isopods wont help for the fungus, they only help for cleaning the cage of poo, uneaten food, bolus.

Yup, take it all out, throw it all in the microwave for a minute or two, leave it to cool and rehouse her.
This has worked for me.
Remember that microwaves only act on H2O molecules so make sure ALL the soil is moist.
