This is a really intersting topic. I enjoy reading different perspectives and opinions. I am a noob (only been in the hobby for less than a year and sitting on 20 T's). But I have with some help from members on the forum succesfully mated my first T's a month ago (B albolilosum). Ifound sufficient information on breeding B albopilosum from this forum and the internet in general (as well as books).
If I did have some burning interest / confusion / questions regarding anything I would have asked the forum and I am sure between the noobs and experts I would have had my questions answered. I know this applies to a easy to breed T but I am sure if I were to attempt breeding a more challenging species I would follow the same route.
I can understand the breeders keeping some of their intellectual property to themselves and they are entitled to do that. But this forum has shown me that the people on here love the hobby and all share the same passion for Tarantulas. I have found people being friendly and I am sure that if you are honest, humble and sincere on the forum some of the members will give you their deepest breeding secrets without hesitation. It may not be in an open thread like this (which will be impossible just because of the sheer number of species) but perhaps on a phone call or by PM's. We all have an idea of who has bred what.
Respect the people that have been in the hobby for years as they have forgotten things that noobs still need to learn.

Ok you do have a point with fly by nights and concede to your opinion as being the better one in this case.

Look at the end of the day I would rather get stock from you or Scarab than some dude in Witbank hehehe yes that guy with the invisible T's.

And yes stripes needs to be earned but we all have to start somewhere.

jozua I never called you a ripoff Snarf did. I was just referring to an older post. and the out come was not on that post so how was I or anyone else to know? This was by no means an attack on you or anyone else. I never mentioned any names did I? Scarab wanted to know what post I was referring 2 and I gave a link.

There was no ill intent I was just trying to prove a point. And with what you just said about them being sold at an even higher price you did just that.

It must never be forgotten that EVERYBODY started somewhere, even Uncle Stan. Some things can't be written because it varies to much, but one can give guidelines, the rest is experience. Unfortunately or fortunately, this comes with dedication and time, which separates the chaff from the grain...

Interesting Discussion going on here. After reading this maybe we could have some "rough" guidelines on breeding, When to heat and flood the cage which species to flood and which to leave dry? i might be naive in thinking this but isn't there any basic guide lines we can follow and then learn the rest as we go along?

May I please ask a question. Cerat I saw that you heat your pokies up when you see that they are about to drop. So I've been thinking if one could also heat them up at the first signs of the T becoming gravid thereby imitating it's natural cycle? I've done this with my B. vagans and my G. rosea and have had success in both cases, but those are the only two T's that have become gravid so far so I don't have a lot of experience riding on this, just interested to know what everyone thinks.
