Ventilation and humidity are not that important.
Here is a picture of my setup of my Avic avic. One vent on the roof, no misting and no waterbowl. They get misted once every few months.

He mentioned in the post that he keeps his Avic avic in a jar.

Just for intrest sake,

What is each of your locations, height above sea level? Even if you keep your reletive humidity at 80% in Joburg, its not the same as 80% on the coast. This is due to air pressure, lower air pressure contains less water vapor per volume air than high even at the same % as the molucules are further apart. This could be a diffrence of up to ~20% in humidity. This is not even talking about the possible physical effects airpressure has on the joints of T's.

This is just something I have been looking into and ponder about some nights.. hehehe

Sorry for the confusion, that is the Avi avi I was referring to in the beginning. My versi is so small you need a magnifying glass to see it let alone get a decent photo!!

I have an Avicularia avicularia that I have kept successfully for over a year, from 1cm and is now about 5cm, in a jar with a bit of peat at the bottom and a small branch with a stocking as a lid with no problems. Has a water dish and occasionally mist.

My Avicularia versicolor is kept according to Hendrijs's thread with no problems in almost a month.
Avics are no harder to keep than any other T, this is confrimed by many keepers on arachnoboards forum too.
Just ventilation, ventilation, ventilation!!! Seems the key along with misting for humidity.
Heres the Avic spp thread link:
