Had a little peak into my balfouri tank the other day and looks like I have ended up with 12 slings. :)
Not too bad considering she laid 25 eggs on the substrate, but will make a great communal. I will be leaving all 12 slings with the female. :)
scarab has gracefully agreed to let me keep the first batch (Seen as they should actually all be his), so will share the next lot with him. :)
Had a lot of help and advice from the old fart, so a lot is thanks to him. :)

Other than that, I mated my H.gigas (Who knows why, considering there are quite a few babies doing and about to be doing the rounds.

Then, not sure if Cenotaph has posted a breeding report yet, but her T.gigas that I was looking after for the last bit of winter, dropped a sac. Pulled it a week or so ago and full of little 1st instars. Not sure what she will be doing with them, but will get them to her at some stage. :)

Other than that, pretty quiet for the last bit of the year.
Unless these breeding permits get arranged soon for locals, then I can try get some sacs from my C.darlingi, C.marshalli, A.junodi and H.hamiltoni. Have males for all of them that are ready to go, so lets hope that they decide something soon before the males expire. :)

Ok, so seems the permits really are going to be a 5 day game, so looks like there won't be any baboon spiders sold till next year at the next breeding season (If permits are issued by then or at all). Such a pity though, but i suppose that's government.

Then, been having really bad luck with breedings the last few weeks.
After losing my P.muticus male a few weeks ago, I mated my big female H.gigas last night. Got a few awesome inserts then he lingered for just too long. :(
She finished eating him this morning. :(
At least she will be nice and fat for the upcoming flooding though. :)

P.subfusca moulted out last week as expected.
I have a fresh male ready to go, so just waiting for her to have a meal and I will try the whole thing again.
From what i can see in her log hide, she is a stunner. :) Moult measured out at 13cm.

Decided to try mating my subfusca's tonight.
Took the male about 15 min to convince the female to come out of her log hide (they are very light sensitive). Usually the males try get the female out of her territory (tank) before they mate, but the male just ran out of patience and decided to have a quick go at a mating.
Im happy to anounce it was a perfect mating!
I'll be doing everything in my power to try convince the female to give me a little round bundle of joy. :)
Wish me luck. :)

Just to give you an idea (Seen as I can't get a picture of my light shy P.subfusca), she looks something like this. Her carapace is just much darker than the spider in the link below other than the white starburst pattern.
This is obviously NOT my picture, so just posted a link.

A quick update:
P.subfusca: After witnessing the 1 insert, I left him in the females enclosure for 2 weeks or so. She eventually decided that she didn't like him much and I noticed her chasing the poor guy around, so took him out. He has since been passed on to scarab where I witnessed a great insert with scarabs female (subfusca that is, not frootbat. :) ) Think he left the male in with the female while away to the coast.
Should be interesting as I think the male is "light form" (Bought him as a mature male and the previous owner didn't have much of a clue) and my female is "dark form" and scarabs is "light form". The light form female seemed much keener on the little guy, so maybe its a sign? She was about twice the size of him though (Hopefully scarab can post a pic or 2 when he gets back?)
My female (subfusca) is currently fattening up nicely, so still holding thumbs.

P.muticus: Fattened up nicely since eating the poor male. Still have a small glimmer of hope that he got an insert in. If not, I have a sub adult male that I received from Usumbara, so hopefully he matures soon.

H.gigas: Still fattening up. Stopped eating, so expecting a moult or a sac soon.

P.miranda: Received a male from Hendrik. The male was terrified of the female (Who was very interested), and kept on running away when put in her enclosure. Eventually put her enclosure inside a huge tank with the male and left him there for about a week. He made himself a little home in the top corner of the enclosure and he made at least 2 sperm webs in the week in there, so hoping that he got some good inserts. No aggression showed/witnessed by the female at all.

P.pederseni: The male has matured a few weeks ago, so will be trying him tonight. :)

P.metallica: Male also matured a few weeks ago, so also giving him a go tonight. (Both male and female are on loan from another member so not my spiders)

P.ornata: Matured this last week, so will be trying him with my female in 2 weeks or so.
