Hi Cerat

I am thinking of getting my first pokie.
So far I only have one arboreal, the P.irminia. Still very small.

In your opinion, would the P.fasciata be a good one to start with ?
Reason is I see you are hoping for a sac, and hopefully they will be fairly cheap. I was thinking of one of them, if I do make a hash of it I won't break the bank at least. Seems stupid to go and buy a R1000.00 T, and hope for the best ?

I have been on here a while now, and it seems like they are really cool T's to have.Pokies I mean.

Thanks

Yes, fasciata would be a good pokie to start with plus you should be getting them for around R30 - R50 for slings, so really a cheap option.
They are also just as great as any other pokie, their price is just so low cause they have been bred often in the last few years.
Sure there are other members also selling these, so maybe put up a wanted ad or check the classifieds. My female is mated, but that doesn't mean much when it comes to these full of crap tarantulas and breeding. :)

My golden rule in breeding has always been...Never count your slings before they hatch. :)

Did my usual morning check of my spiders and saw another lady preparing a web mat for a sac. :)
This time it was P.metallica. :)
This is Scarab's female and male that I mated, and went through the whole breeding process with.
Got home this afternoon and she is protecting her (our) little bundle of joy.
Will pull sometime between 14 and 18 days when Scarab is back and put up a breeding report then. :)

Just thought I would add an observation that I made tonight regarding temps that my spiders are dropping at.
Got a thermometer on the lid of my pederseni tank (she is the female currently sittifng with an eggcase). The sensor is on top of the lid on the outside, and is sitting at 40.8 degrees. Not sure on the temps inside the tank, but would guess around 36 maybe.
