Like some of you guys know by now, my P. Fasciata had a really bad molt yesterday. It lost 5 legs in the process and one more is stuck in the old molt (from just after the second joint). It now only has 2 good back legs on the left side. The leg that is stuck is the back right leg. Both pedipalps came out perfectly.

I did consider a mercy killing, but spinnerkop convinced me to give the guy a chance. So now I need some advice from you guys on how to go about it. He is in ICU atm. I haven't removed the molt from his leg yet.

Now my questions are as follows:
1)How do I stop the bleeding? Echodive suggested superglue, I have heard of this method a few times before, but I don't like the idea. Superglue seems toxic to me? (I also might end up gluing my T to my fingers or something) I also heard of flour being used to stall the blood, that idea I like more.
2)How do I rehydrate him? Will just being in the ICU be sufficient or will I have to force feed him some water?
3)If I have to force feed him, when do I start and how much do I give?
4)How will I know if he is going to be OK and I can remove him from the ICU?

Luckily it didn't seem as though he was bleeding to much. He just had tiny drops of creamy white liquid where his legs use to be attached, no red blood.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

As far as I know, the one that lost four legs (on one side) started eating recently, albeit with some difficulty. If your spider is leaking hemolymph quickly, it will probably die. If not, it has a good chance of surviving, seeing that the pedipalps are in place. (Spiders do not have "red blood")

Leave him in ICU for now, try not to fiddle with it to much so the hemolymph can coagulate. Once this happened, carefully remove whatever part of the exuvium is still attached, try not to break another leg. (No pun). Do not put him back in a normal enclosure for at least two weeks, but make sure the ICU does not dry out, T's can absorb some moisture through the book lungs and do not HAVE to drink immediately.

After it has settled and the exuvium hardened, introduce a "wounded" cricket close to the pedipalps and see if it feeds. From here on, keep us up to date to see if something else can be done.

That is the tarantula's "blood", its called hemolymph. Just follow the advice that scarab gave your friend, thats your best bet.

yeah thanks to Scarab my pokie is eating like a beast hits its prey hard with only 4 legs on one side of its body, it tong feeds twice a week and is doing great!!!!!!!!!!! im very sure its going to live.... its active for a 4 legged spider and has attitude which is a good sign thats is healthy... so dont lose hope you cant do it.. just ask as many questions as possible... youtube and forums help lot...
