For those of you who know me, Ive become really negative about the hobby of late. Tired of everybodies ego's and all the lying, stealing and backstabbing.

Last year my male ornata did a few rounds at various places visiting females. Yesterday i find out via the grapevine that one of the females that he mated with (and which has now been sold off to a new person without being told she was mated with my male) had some babies. I contacted the new owner and he is willing to split the babies 50/50. Now does anybody else need a reason why i dont send males out on breeding loans anymore? Hope the hobby gets what it deserves and fails horribly in sa.

I for one is not sick of the hobby, I have my few spiders and enjoy every second I spend with them. It's some people that deserve what is coming to them. I have made some of my best friends throught tarantulas, some still on this forum, others long gone. I have serious issues with dishonesty, bullshit and lies. People who know me and my history here will recall various incidents that reflect this sentiment.

Gentlemen, I full heartedly agree with you.

I make effort when I have the opportunity to get together with the very very good people I've met through the game here. And wherever I talk to these guys all share this opinion.

Honesty, respect, integrity is lacking. Yet from these members I've seen just that in practice.

Hi I don’t know if this is my place to say something because I am one of the new guys around here. I agree there are a lot of horrible people that are giving the hobby a bad name, but please do not condemn all of us for the few rotten apples.

To me the guys on the forum such as Ceratogyrus, Scarab, Snarf, Saint,..... etc (and the list goes on) have really made the forum worth while because they are people that really gives and gives without receiving! If this post is only to say thanks than let it be.

We inexperienced tarantula keepers need your help! And I think a lot of people will agree. I love tarantulas and want to learn so much more. Some of the stuff you can’t learn in a book you need expert advice.

Thanks to all you guys, and bad words to all the liars and cheats out there in the hobby! Hope you guys can see what you are doing to the hobby!

Sorry to hear Cera. At least the new owner was willing to 50/50 with you. Big up to him/her.

I also had ill dealings in the hobby and ended up going from 100+ T's down to 10 or so now. Unfortunately things like this will always happen and the best way around is to only do loans with guys that you know are not gonna do that. I sold a mated female about a year ago, but I informed the new owner that she had been mated and that there was an agreement of 50/50 split and he agreed.

On the negative side I sold a male a long while back in agreement that for a lower price I would be entitled to a portion of the sac. When the sac came, I asked for my portion and had to listen to 101 stories and never got a single baby. Instead after the person sold the babies for a decent profit, I got paid the original price of the male I had wanted. I was basically robbed for R 3000.00+ but things like that don't bother me anymore cuz Karma is *****.
