OK, you got a bit of interest sparked in me :drunk:

See Carien, if you were to attempt paring these two species and you succeeded, you could theoriteically disprove the taxonomists who classified these species (Stromatopelma and Poecilotheria) as this mating proves that they are, in fact, not only from the same genus, but from the same sub-family!

Let me clarify again. im not completely against hybridising, im against the culling that would surely ensue.

Not to sound too much like a wise-ass, but having spiders from two taxanomically proven different genera mate would achieve nothing. Except probably one dead spider. If you're curious enough to sacrifice a spider just to see what the mating would (not be possible to) produce, send me the spider. I'll let it live plus photoshop you up a little something : D

Different people want different things from the hobby. I like to think what I have in my tubs are, as far as possible, representative of specimens running around in the wild today, but that's just me.

I'm not impossible. I'm being improbable.

I agree Marius! and I would never attempt mating those 2. Just interesting that they seem so interested in each other. Breeding hybrids would be for your own purpose and you keeping all the babies. But unforeseen circumstances do happen... a petshop got a collection from a guy that passed away, and a few of the spiders they still can't identify. If something like that has to happen to your collection with hybrids, the petshop might sell them as a pure specie and someone breeds with them etc..

As i recall, Rcf is known as Rosea and the Rosea we all know of is actually Porterii( or how ever you spell it)

Im not trying to influence anyone Mammon, especially the newbies but what im trying to say everyone
in the hobby can't be that narrow minded in thinking hybrids dont interest them. I dont want anyone to hybridize
Im just saying, curiosity does sometimes get the better of us, hybrids do exist and will continue to exist and
we will never win the battle against hybridizing but if i can influence anyone about hybridizing dont be
irresponsible in hybridizing your more influential species that does affect the hobby, species such as your lasiodora
species, Brachypelma and other more common species. But if the fact of hybrids interest you, as they interest
me, do something as extreme as OBT and Balfouri ( which i know someone has tried, and we all know them
dam well but i wont mention who). At the end of day, and i guess im struggling to word my argument abit which is making
members like yourself misunderstand me, but we wont win the battle against hybrids but we can guide other
members into trying the hybrid interest of attempting hybrids breeding with the more unlikely and less success
spiders which will hopefully decrease the number of hybrids on the market.

I hope you understand where im coming from? :swaet:

My Advice is mostly from my personal experience, but everyone is

Is this statement not influential ! Fact or opinion ?
So there was no pulchra involved uzi only shows your character unfortunatly whistle2
Please direct us to this name change ,cause as Duke mentioned in the 'Bad Mammon' thread a paper was written then and nothing was official. I did send in a question which was never answered being ..... why when u mate NCF x RCF do the babies come out 50/50 of each colour instead of mixed up as you would expect with hybrids.
When i stated in the hobby many years back NCF x RCF was sold as the norm and even today we only just have the 2 color forms.
Maybe also send the name change to MR Stanley Schultz so he can update his site and issue a updated version of the tarantula keepers guide.
On a side note to newbies on the forum ........ Always keep in mind that advice given on the forum ( by Moderator or not) should be regarded as 'voicing their opinion' so always research more to confirm. I dont visit much anymore so would not know if any 'tarantula experts' have joined the forum.

Shows my character? Ok Thanasi, think what you want pal.

And when i saw that picture you posted years ago i remember seeing a Pulchra but clearly i was mistaken
' sorry, i make mistakes'

I was told last year that they were too seperate spiders, and this member is updated buy the British tarantula society,
so either he was thumb sucking or someone else is wrong, but i would like to believe they two seperate species, thats
MY opinion, that we all titled to, just like my opinion on hybrids, as i enjoy them and will continue to seek out
any possible outcomes of a special hybrid.
