Another way is by the size/leg span of the Tarantula.
It differs from species to species though but the most accurate method is sexing maturity with the spermatheca

All right. But, since the spermathecae are internal and not visible except in the shed exuvia or upon dissection of the animal, how are we supposed to know whether they're light, dark, or green?

Let's try this: If the carapace of the female is at least the same size as the male you have to mate her with because you can't wait for the next molt to see if the spermatheca are dark?
