I will definitely try that. Never thought about using pins, and as I have bananas for fingers I always end up making the molt worse.

The sooner you pull the molt the easier it opens up.
If I get a chance I pull the molt as soon as the spider has turned over, snatch and grab. :spider: noob

A couple of methods I use.
I detach the abdomen from the carapace and then cut the spinnerets off leaving me with half the abdomen, this help get rid of the twisted mess that is left behind and basically leaves you with the important parts.

I then put the skin in water or mist it with water and then open it using pins, smaller tweezers or tooth picks, try avoiding to much pressure on the skin with sharp things as it just tears pretty easy.
I open it on a piece of glass, as soon as I have it open I can sex it directly on the glass, using the light method.

Another method, once I have prepared the molt, I drop it into water and shake it around, this also can open it up.

Another method that was suggested by a member on the forum, I think it was HS?
Dropping the abdomen in hot water from the kettle, that normally opens the molt with out to much fuss.

If you soak it in water with a drop of sunlight liquid, It also softens quite nicely. I leave it for about 8-10 minutes, then drain the excess water and carefully open it up. Patience (and practice) is the key :igiveup:

Un-hijack thread:

It's nice to pull a fresh molt from a spider, but I have seen them sucking up the fluids of the old skin, so you might steal some much needed moisture from you stressed/recovering spider. I prefer to let the spider tell me when it is done with the skin and then use any of the previous methods to undo the skin. In place of pins I just use toothpicks.
