The chances are vastly in favor of the female attacking and eating the male because her reproductive hormones haven't kicked in yet and he looks SO much like food! If the female is not ready she will walk away from the male.
Or she will storm the male and as most males are pisses they run away from that kind of advance.

And on the odd occasion they mate regardless of sexualy mature or not.

If you have to think out the box and into the wild.
A female will get mated with regardless of her maturity status, size or willingness.
Just look at the odd occasion when males get mated and they do the whole dance and inserts just to find out that the "female" is a male.

The fact is this, if you don't know better then you can take the chance thatvthe female is ready to breed and give it a try But if you know better and you know how to sex maturity of the spider either by size or by molt then you wait for the molt to confirm.
And then you find the Mature Male and you give it a go.

Regarding the Spermatheca's colour - what is the colour of "most" mature females and dose the colour gradually darken with age from Juvie to Maturity and further to becoming a grandma spidy???

It is one color, it gets a dark brown golden color on the tips of the Spermatheca.
As the female reaches sexual maturity the spermatheca starts darkening up.
